Old Cornwall Christmas Traditions

Cornish Carols - A Tradition For The World

23. Boscastle

The Boscastle Carol

Now every Star that dwells in sky,
Look down with shining eyes!
The night has brought in passing by
A Star from Paradise.

We'll never say goodbye in Heaven

We'll never say goodbye

For in that land of joy and song

We'll never say goodbye.

Now every Child that dwells on earth,
Stand up, stand up and sing!
The passing night has given birth
Unto our heavenly King.

We'll never say goodbye in Heaven

We'll never say goodbye

For in that land of joy and song

We'll never say goodbye.

Now every Bird that flies in air,
The, raven, lark and dove!
The night has brooded on her lair
And fledged the Bird of Love

We'll never say goodbye in Heaven

We'll never say goodbye

For in that land of joy and song

We'll never say goodbye.

Now all the Angels of the Lord
Rise up on Christmas Even!
The passing night will bear the Word
That is the Voice of Heaven.

We'll never say goodbye in Heaven

We'll never say goodbye

For in that land of joy and song

We'll never say goodbye.

The tune Boscastle Jack is usually used for the singing of  "While Shepherds Watched" but here Ian Marshall has used it for a new carol which in the combines the words from a poem by Eleanor Farjeon and the chorus from a gospel hymn.
